Production Analysis is SongScore's technical assessment of a track's mix and master quality. It evaluates the track against streaming platform technical standards and genre-appropriate production benchmarks.
The Production Analysis Score (0–100) is derived from: master loudness (is the integrated LUFS value within the acceptable range for the target platform?), dynamic range (is the track over-compressed or has adequate dynamic variation?), frequency balance (are there problematic low-end resonances, mid-frequency buildup, or high-frequency harshness?), stereo width (is the stereo image appropriate for the genre — not too narrow, not artificially wide?), and absence of artefacts (are there clipping events, encoding artefacts, or technical errors?).
The Production Analysis section of a SongScore report identifies specific issues with improvement recommendations. These recommendations are designed to be shared directly with a mixer or mastering engineer as a brief — they use technical language that audio professionals will immediately understand.
High Production Analysis scores correlate strongly with Spotify editorial playlist acceptance rates. Low scores, particularly those involving vocal clarity and dynamic range, correlate with higher skip rates in the algorithmic evaluation period.
