Mood Analysis is SongScore's system for detecting and quantifying the emotional character of a track across 31 distinct mood dimensions. Each dimension is scored 0–1, representing how strongly that mood is present in the audio.
The 31 mood dimensions include: Happy, Sad, Romantic, Aggressive, Calm, Energetic, Uplifting, Dark, Epic, Chill, Sexy, Ethereal, Melancholic, Nostalgic, Playful, Tense, Triumphant, Vulnerable, Dramatic, Hopeful, Mysterious, Spiritual, Motivational, Rebellious, Sensual, Bittersweet, Dreamy, Intense, Anthemic, Intimate, and Whimsical.
Mood Analysis is used in two key ways by SongScore. First, it drives Playlist Match accuracy — playlists are often organised around mood as much as genre, and mood alignment is a key factor in pitch relevance. Second, it informs Platform Strategy — TikTok's algorithm rewards emotional clarity (one dominant mood), while Spotify's editorial team looks for specific mood fits per playlist category.
The mood profile is presented in the SongScore report as both a bar chart (top 9 dominant moods by score) and in the AI A&R Report as a narrative description of the track's emotional identity.
