The Movement Profile is SongScore's analysis of a track's kinetic character — how it moves through time, how its energy builds and releases, and what kind of physical or dance response it encourages. It answers "what does this track do to the body?" rather than "what does this track sound like?" or "how does this track feel emotionally?"
Movement Profile descriptors include categories such as: pace (steady, accelerating, decelerating, pulsing, stuttering), energy arc (climbing, plateau, wave, spike, gradual descent), rhythmic feel (driving, laid-back, swung, straight, syncopated), dance response (head-nodding, foot-tapping, full-body, swaying, trance-like), and structural progression (linear, cyclical, explosive, gradual, episodic).
The Movement Profile serves a specific commercial purpose: it determines which platform contexts and listening scenarios a track fits. A track with a "driving, climbing, steady" movement profile is ideal for workout and running playlists. A track with a "wave, laid-back, swaying" profile fits chill and casual listening contexts. SongScore uses the Movement Profile alongside the Emotional Profile and Character Profile to recommend specific playlist targets and to explain why a track fits — or does not fit — specific listening scenarios.
