Playlist Potential is SongScore's prediction of how many distinct editorial and algorithmic playlist categories a track could successfully fit into. It is a measure of playlist breadth — not a measure of playlist guarantee.
Playlist Potential is driven by: mood dimension variety (tracks with 3+ strong mood dimensions can fit into multiple mood-based playlists), genre clarity and cross-genre potential (tracks with clear primary genres and identifiable subgenres match more playlist filters), character and movement tag diversity (rich character and movement profiles expand the number of playlist categories the track can pitch to), and era and cultural positioning (tracks with identifiable era markers fit into nostalgia, retro, or contemporary playlists).
A Playlist Potential score above 80 indicates the track has broad playlist applicability and can be pitched to many distinct playlist categories. A score between 50 and 80 indicates moderate breadth — focus on the 2-3 playlist categories where the track scores highest. A score below 50 indicates narrow playlist fit; the track will need very targeted pitching rather than broad playlist campaigns.
Playlist Potential is not the same as playlist guarantee. A track with 100 Playlist Potential still requires active pitching, curator relationships, and timing to actually secure playlist placements.
